Refund & Cancellation Policy

This policy explains how cancellations, refunds, rescheduling, and no-shows work for tutorial sessions booked through Schoolers.

Last updated: 1 January 2025

Important notice

By booking a session on Schoolers, you agree to this policy.

1. Booking and payment

Your tutorial session is only confirmed once payment has been successfully completed and verified.

Payments are processed securely through Flutterwave. Available payment methods may include card payments and bank transfers.

2. Pricing

The price shown at checkout is the final amount payable for the tutorial session, unless stated otherwise.

3. If you cancel a session

More than 24 hours before the session

If you cancel a confirmed session at least 24 hours before the scheduled start time, you will receive a full refund.

Less than 24 hours before the session

If you cancel a confirmed session less than 24 hours before the scheduled start time, no refund will be issued.

4. If a tutor cancels

If a tutor cancels a confirmed session, you will receive a full refund for that session.

5. No-shows and late arrival

If a student does not attend

If a student does not attend a confirmed session, the session will be treated as completed and no refund will be issued.

If a student joins late

If a student joins late, the tutor will usually not be required to extend the session beyond the scheduled end time.

If you know you may be late or unable to attend, please contact the administrator as soon as possible.

If a tutor does not attend

If a tutor does not attend a confirmed session without a valid explanation or suitable alternative arrangement, you may be offered either:

  • a full refund; or
  • a rescheduled session, subject to availability.

6. Rescheduling

You may request to reschedule a session by contacting administrator at least 24 hours before the scheduled start time.

Requests made less than 24 hours before the session may be accepted at the tutor's discretion, but this is not guaranteed.

7. Technical problems

If a session cannot go ahead, or is significantly interrupted, because of a serious technical issue affecting the Schoolers platform or the tutor's connection, we may offer:

  • a rescheduled session;
  • a partial refund for time lost; or
  • a full refund if the session could not reasonably take place.

Parents and students are responsible for having a suitable device, internet connection, and working audio/video equipment before the session begins.

8. How refunds are issued

Approved refunds will usually be credited to your Schoolers wallet.

Where required by law or where appropriate, we may instead refund the original payment method.

9. Refund processing time

Once approved, refunds will be processed as soon as reasonably possible.

Refunds to your Schoolers wallet may appear sooner than refunds sent back to your original payment method. Bank and payment provider processing times may vary.

10. Wallet credits

If your refund is issued to your Schoolers wallet:

  • it can be used for future eligible tutorial sessions;
  • it cannot be transferred to another account; and
  • it cannot be exchanged for cash unless required by law.

11. Exceptions

We may make exceptions in limited situations, such as:

  • serious illness;
  • emergencies;
  • duplicate payments;
  • unauthorised transactions; or
  • platform errors.

We may ask for supporting information before approving an exception.
