Terms of Service

By accessing or using the Schoolers platform ("Platform", "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms") and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use the Platform.

These Terms apply to all users of the Platform, including parents, students, tutors, and administrators.

To use Schoolers, you must:

• Be at least 18 years old to create an account as a parent or tutor.
• Students under 18 must have a parent or guardian create and manage their account.
• Provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration.
• Have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement in your jurisdiction.

We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone for any reason at any time.

When you create an account on Schoolers:

• You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials.
• You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
• You must notify us immediately of any unauthorised use of your account at admin@schoolers.academy.
• You may not create more than one account per role without our written permission.
• You may not transfer your account to another person.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

As a parent or guardian using Schoolers, you agree to:

• Provide accurate information about your children, including their names, ages, and grade levels.
• Ensure your children use the Platform in accordance with these Terms.
• Supervise your children's use of the Platform as appropriate for their age.
• Pay for all bookings made through your account in a timely manner.
• Treat tutors with respect and professionalism.
• Not share your account credentials with your children for the purpose of circumventing age restrictions.

As a tutor on Schoolers, you agree to:

• Provide accurate information in your profile, including qualifications, experience, and subjects.
• Undergo and pass our tutor review process before your profile is made visible to parents.
• Attend all confirmed sessions on time and prepared.
• Maintain professional conduct with students and parents at all times.
• Not solicit students to book sessions outside the Platform to avoid fees.
• Not share session recordings or student data with third parties.
• Comply with all applicable laws regarding the provision of educational services.
• Notify us promptly if you are unable to attend a confirmed session.

Tutors are independent contractors, not employees of Schoolers. You are responsible for your own tax obligations.

Booking process: Parents book sessions by selecting a tutor, choosing availability slots, adding children, and completing checkout. A booking is confirmed only after successful payment.

Pricing: Tutors set their own hourly rates. The price displayed at checkout is the final price inclusive of any platform fees.

Payment methods: We accept payments via Flutterwave (card, bank transfer) and Schoolers wallet balance. All payments are processed securely.

Refunds: Refund eligibility depends on the circumstances:

• If a tutor cancels a confirmed session, a full refund will be issued to your wallet.
• If a parent cancels more than 24 hours before a session, a full refund is issued.
• Cancellations within 24 hours of a session may be subject to a cancellation fee.
• No-shows by the student are not eligible for refunds.

Tutor payouts: Tutors are paid for completed sessions. Earnings are credited to the tutor's Schoolers wallet and can be withdrawn to a bank account via the payouts feature. Schoolers deducts a platform service fee from each completed session.

All tutoring sessions take place within the Schoolers live classroom. By participating in sessions, you agree to:

• Not record sessions without the explicit consent of all participants.
• Not share session content, recordings, or materials outside the Platform.
• Maintain appropriate behaviour during sessions.
• Not use the classroom for any purpose other than the agreed tutoring session.

We reserve the right to terminate any session that violates these Terms or our community standards.

You must not use Schoolers to:

• Violate any applicable law or regulation.
• Harass, abuse, threaten, or intimidate other users.
• Post or transmit any content that is defamatory, obscene, or harmful to minors.
• Impersonate any person or entity.
• Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Platform.
• Introduce malware, viruses, or other harmful code.
• Scrape, crawl, or extract data from the Platform without our written permission.
• Circumvent any security or access control measures.
• Engage in any fraudulent activity, including false bookings or chargebacks.

Violation of these prohibitions may result in immediate account termination and legal action.

All content on the Schoolers Platform including the software, design, logos, text, and graphics is owned by or licensed to Schoolers and is protected by intellectual property laws.

You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from our content without our express written permission.

Content you upload to the Platform (e.g. tutor resources, assignment submissions) remains your property. By uploading content, you grant Schoolers a non-exclusive licence to use, store, and display that content solely for the purpose of providing the Service.

The Schoolers Platform is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that:

• The Platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.
• Any specific learning outcomes will be achieved through use of the Platform.
• Tutor qualifications or credentials have been independently verified beyond our review process.

Schoolers is a marketplace connecting parents and tutors. We are not responsible for the quality of individual tutoring sessions beyond our vetting and review processes.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Schoolers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Platform.

Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms or your use of the Platform shall not exceed the total amount you paid to Schoolers in the 3 months preceding the claim.

You may terminate your account at any time by contacting us at admin@schoolers.academy.

We may suspend or terminate your account immediately, without notice, if you:

• Violate these Terms of Service.
• Engage in fraudulent or illegal activity.
• Pose a risk to the safety of other users.

Upon termination, your right to use the Platform ceases immediately. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (including payment obligations, intellectual property, and limitation of liability) will continue to apply.

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Nigeria.

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. When we make material changes, we will notify you by email or by displaying a prominent notice on the Platform at least 14 days before the changes take effect.

Your continued use of the Platform after the effective date of the revised Terms constitutes your acceptance of the changes.
